Welcome
What We Do

Builders Club - Potter Middle School

Builders Club: Many young people in Junior High and Middle Schools believe in the idea of service. They welcome the chance to make a personal contribution to their school, community, and peers.  And so it is with the Builders Club at Potter Middle School.  The Kiwanis Club of Fallbrook and its member Kiwanians take great pride in sponsoring this club.

Builders Club offers many opportunities to middle school-aged students. Its goal is to develop leadership qualities in young people through experiences in volunteer community service.

As the motto "We Build" indicates, Builders Club is for young people who want to take positive, constructive action to build a better world for themselves and others.

Builders Club members experience the thrill of accomplishment and the satisfaction of knowing their efforts make a difference for those they help.

The Objects of Builders Club explain it best:

  • To provide opportunities for working together in service to school and community.
  • To develop leadership potential
  • To foster the development of strong moral character.
  • To encourage loyalty to school, community, and nation.

Treasurer Katy Robinson

President Laura Ixta

Have you ever wondered how you would feel if you could help the community become a better place?  As president of the Builders Club, I have had the opportunity to help the community in many different ways.  The idea of being able to help the community encouraged me to run for president.  I thought it would be a neat experience to be able to listen to other students' ideas and actually turning these ideas into actions.  Overall, I believe that becoming president of the Builders Club was an excellent choice because it encouraged me to join the Key Club at Fallbrook Union High School next year.

Vice President Carlos Cortez

Hi...!  My name is Carlos Cortez and I am the Vice President of the Potter Junior High School Builders Club.  I think people chose me as Vice President because they think I would make a good vice president.  They chose me because I am reliable, honest, and a hard working person.  Another reason why is because I will listen to our club's members when the president is too busy.  I will also do my best to fill in for the president if and when she is absent.  The final reason I was chosen was because I know what the students want.  Together, with other Builders Club student members and our other officers, we will make our presence known on campus and be able to contribute to projects that help needy children here in Fallbrook.  If you are interested in joining our Builders Club, contact me on campus anytime.

Secretary Jessica Castaneda

Hello everyone.  My name is Jessica Castaneda and I am the Secretary for the Builders Club.  In 2003 I decided that becoming secretary for a club on campus was a good opportunity for me to contribute to our community.  I felt that my note taking skills, which I picked up from AVID, gave me a good chance of winning the position.  When I won the position I took my job seriously.  Being secretary for Builders Club lets me join in the fun projects that we participate in throughout the year.  From the last Fallbrook Christmas Parade when we joined the Key Club at Fallbrook High School and the Kiwanis Club to our most recent on campus project selling Candygrams for St. Patrick's Day--we have fun in the Builders Club.

Treasurer Katy Robinson

Hi!  My name is Katy Robinson, the current Builders Club Treasurer.  I decided to take this position and assume a leadership role because I want to make a difference in the world around me, and the only way to do it is to get involved.  I chose to be a part of the Builders Club because I want to be involved with programs that exercise the same beliefs that I do, community service, helping others, and volunteering at community functions is a brief list of all of the activities that we do.  A little bit about me, I'm your average over-achiever with a 4.0 grade  average in her honors level classes.  I also play the French horn, and wish to get a scholarship to college with it.  I excel in woodshop, language Arts and most importantly, Math.  I may sound superhuman to you, but just ask my friends, I'm not.  I see the Builders Club as an excellent way to be a part of the community and give opportunities to others less fortunate.  I hope to stay with the Key Club at Fallbrook High School which is also sponsored by our parent club--The Kiwanis Club of Fallbrook.  Thank you Mr. Escobedo, for this wonderful opportunity.
