What is a Kiwanian? Kiwanians (ki-wa-nians) are volunteers changing the world through service to children and communities. In Fallbrook and its surrounding communities, Kiwanis members develop youth as leaders through a variety of sponsored leadership programs (SLPs), raise funds for pediatric trauma research at San Diego's Rady Children's Hospital, collect and donate food to the Fallbrook Food Pantry, and so much more. No problem is too big or too small. Why? Because working together, we learned long ago that members achieve so much more than one person can accomplish alone. When you give a child a chance to learn, experience, dream, and succeed, great things happen! Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. That's our motto! And, we are proud of our accomplishments throughout the world. Global Membership o About 8,000 clubs in 96 countries o More than 260,000 adult members o Approximately 320,000 youth
Mission
Service
o Sponsor nearly 150,000 service projects. o Raise more than $107 million.
Global Results Our club's youth activities include sponsoring a Key Club at Fallbrook Union High School, a Builders Club at Potter Junior High School, and a K-Kids Club at La Paloma Elementary School. Additionally we support an annual program providing leadership experience to students at Fallbrook Union High School through our Key Leader program. And, in our elementary schools throughout the area we provide two programs that support teachers in our Bringing Up Grades (BUG) and Terrific Kids programs. These students are encouraged to focus on bringing up and maintaining their grades at acceptable levels.
Shown here are members of the Fallbrook Union High School's Key Club and Kiwanians as they assist members of our community donating blood to the American Red Cross. But being in Kiwanis or one of our sponsored youth clubs is not all work and no play! Shown below are Builders Club members from Potter Middle School as they join Key Club members from Fallbrook Union High School in a water balloon toss at our annual Friendship Picnic on the lawn outside Fallbrook Union Elementary School District Headquarters.
The Friendship Picnic includes an auction whereat baked goods, prepared by Kiwanians, their spouses, and members of our sponsored clubs, are "sold" to the highest bidder.
Our members are nice, kind, funny, motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to share their knowledge, experiences, and wisdom with the younger generations of future Kiwanians.
To generate funds our club conducts activities called fundraisers. These activities focus on our community's needs and provide an opportunity for our club to generate funds.
These funds are used to provide scholarships for worthy students and to contribute to community organizations that support needy citizens of Fallbrook. All funds generated remain in our community.
